With Raksha Bandhan just around the corner, the danger of being bro-zoned by your crush constantly lurks in the corner. Swiggy’s new ad campaign, with the tagline “Scene hai toh Swiggy hai. Swiggy hai toh scene hai,” addresses the heartbreak by offering the comfort of food.
In the ad, you can see two high school boys wallowing with disappointment on Raksha Bandhan. A Swiggy delivery executive arrives with their order and addresses them as “Bhaiya,” a term that means brother but is widely used to address informal economy workers, like drivers, watchmen, delivery men, as well as unknown individuals. The boys respond by saying, “Bhaiya toh mat bol yaar (at least don’t call me bhaiya).”
The film is a comic representation of the other side of Raksha Bandhan, the festival that celebrates the bond between brothers and sisters. It also establishes Swiggy as the go-to food delivery company for every celebration, get-together and emotion.
