Actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu has ventured into the world of sports entrepreneurship in India. She is the owner of Team Chennai in the World Pickleball League (WPBL), which is owned by Natekar Sports and Gaming. As the owner, she will encourage more women to participate as athletes and entrepreneurs and boost pickleball’s popularity in India and the league’s growth.

“Love at first sight — that’s exactly how I’d describe my feelings for pickleball. It caught my attention from the moment I was introduced to it. Today, I’m thrilled to be the owner of the Chennai franchise in the upcoming World Pickleball League. I’ve always wanted to be a part of India’s growing sports ecosystem,” she said.

Gaurav Natekar, Founder & CEO of WPBL, expressed his delight to have Samantha Ruth Prabhu on board as a team owner. He praised her commitment to promoting sports and creating opportunities for women and girls in Chennai. “With 40% of pickleball players being women, Samantha’s involvement is a perfect fit for the league,” he added.
