Gaurav Banerjee has been appointed as the new Managing Director and CEO of Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI), effective today. He replaces NP Singh, who has served SPNI for 25 years, and will transition to the role of non-executive chairman.
SPNI announced the news on LinkedIn, saying, “With his vision to propel SPNI’s legacy forward and set new benchmarks in the industry, SPNI will continue its endeavor of execution excellence.”
Banerjee previously served as the Content Head for Hindi Entertainment and Disney+ Hotstar. He also led Star Bharat, Hindi and English Movies, Kids and infotainment, and Regional (East) businesses. Starting out as an assistant producer and anchor at Aaj Tak, he later moved to Star News to produce and anchor prime-time news shows.

He has a master’s degree in Filmmaking and TV Production from Jamia Millia Islamia University and a bachelor’s degree in History from St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi.
