As India prepares for its festive season, Meesho has announced the creation of around 8.5 lakh seasonal jobs within its seller and logistics network, marking a 70% increase in job opportunities compared to the previous year. Over 60% of these roles originated from tier 3 and tier 4 cities.

This year, Meesho’s sellers have hired 5 lakh seasonal workers to meet the surge in demand. These workers perform various tasks, such as sorting, manufacturing, and packaging products. Sellers are conducting quick but effective training programs to prepare them for these roles. They are also expanding their operations by introducing new products, moving into new categories, and curating festive collections.

In addition to supporting sellers, Meesho is also working with major third-party logistics partners like Delhivery, Ecom Express, Shadowfax, and Xpressbees, which has resulted in the creation of 3.5 lakh jobs in logistics. These roles involve picking, sorting, loading, unloading, and managing returns.

Sourabh Pandey, CXO of Fulfilment and Experience at Meesho, said the company aims to make e-commerce accessible and inclusive for all. “Empowering SMBs, local manufacturers and logistics providers to scale their business is resulting in meaningful economic opportunities that is driving financial inclusion in these regions,” he added.
