YouTube has rolled out an affiliate program that lets creators tag products in their videos and earn a slice when fans buy through Flipkart and Myntra. It’s a nifty chance for creators to mix up their income while helping viewers find top picks from the people they trust.
This affiliate feature joins YouTube’s already loaded toolkit where creators can link their merch, rake in ad revenue, and cash in on options like Super Thanks and Channel Memberships. The rollout starts with e-commerce platforms like Flipkart and Myntra, India’s go-to destinations for fashion, beauty and lifestyle.
Travis Katz, YouTube’s Shopping head honcho, stated that over 30 billion hours of shopping content were watched globally last year, and people want to shop with creators they trust. This new program is about deepening the creator-viewer connection with a touch of shopping magic, he added. There are plans to bring in more partners down the line.
Flipkart and Myntra have already been using video commerce for a while. Their initiatives, like Myntra Minis, Ultimate Glam Clan and Flipkart’s Affluencer Program, have gained positive responses from both creators and customers.
Flipkart’s Ravi Iyer said, “Using the YouTube Shopping Affiliate Program, we aim to further boost the experience and engagement of customers using Flipkart and Myntra by enabling product discovery through videos by creators on YouTube.” By teaming up with YouTube, Flipkart is making shopping more engaging and personal, he added.
Ajay Vidyasagar, Regional Director, APAC, YouTube, said, “With Indian consumers increasingly embracing digital platforms, YouTube is evolving to meet those needs by connecting creators, viewers, and brands in seamless and engaging ways. The YouTube Shopping affiliate program is the next step in this journey, providing creators with another powerful tool to grow their businesses and connect with their audiences.”

Eligible creators can join this program with a quick registration, tag products from Flipkart and Myntra, and let fans explore the best buys right in the video’s description and product section. Creators can tag products in their fresh content or pin them during live streams. It’s all about bringing that “trusted creator” vibe into the shopping experience—meaning viewers can see real reviews, make informed choices, and shop with confidence.
