Bingo! Tedhe Medhe is extending a heartfelt tribute this Durga Puja, celebrating 50 years of Bengali rock music. The brand has launched a song named ‘Rockanjali,’ composed and performed by iconic Bengali rock musicians Siddhartha Sankar Roy (Siddhu) & Avijit Burman (Pota) from Cactus, Gaurab Chatterjee (Gabu) from Lakkhichara, and Anindya Chatterjee from Chandrabindoo.
The musical homage celebrates the cultural significance of Bengali rock and the themes of friendship and bonding, which resonates deeply with the spirit of Durga Puja.
The ‘Rockanjali’ song captures the very essence of Bengali rock while inspiring a new wave of music enthusiasts. It pays tribute to the genre’s influence on Bengali art and culture over the past 50 years.
To connect and engage with their core audience, Bingo! Tedhe Medhe has also introduced the ‘Rockanjali’ contest to offer young, talented musicians a platform to showcase their skills and honour the legacy of Bengali rock during Durga Puja. The contest attracted entries from over 120 students across various Kolkata colleges, all competing to be among the top 15 bands.
During the festival, the finalists will perform at some of the city’s most iconic Durga Puja pandals, where thousands come to celebrate West Bengal’s mega festival. For the first time, Kolkata will witness a ‘Concert on Wheels’ as part of the ‘Rockanjali Pujo Tour.’ Over six consecutive days, from Chaturthi to Navami, the tour will travel to six prominent Durga Puja pandals across the city.
Speaking about the theme song, Suresh Chand, Vice President and Head of Marketing, Snacks, Noodles and Pasta, ITC Foods, said, “With Rockanjali, Bingo! Tedhe Medhe wanted to create something truly special for this Durga Puja. Our song honours the rich legacy of Bengali rock music while giving young, emerging talent a platform to shine.”
