This Diwali, Bumble India is spotlighting the evolving spirit of togetherness and equality in relationships. Traditionally, festive responsibilities often lean heavily towards one partner, but times are changing. Now, 51% of Indians look forward to splitting the festive workload, viewing it as a brilliant way to connect. Another 36% are open to equal contributions, acknowledging a bit of adjustment may be part of the journey.
This move towards shared planning shows a positive shift as more couples embrace teamwork to create memorable festive moments. The message is simple: planning together doesn’t just enhance the festivities—it strengthens relationships.
“As the festive season approaches and celebrations come alive, shared responsibilities are becoming increasingly important in relationships,” says Pracheta Mazumdar, Bumble’s Senior Marketing Manager for APAC. Bumble’s research shows that for half of Indians, balance in festive duties is a green flag. As a result, if one is keen to meet someone this festive season, they should highlight their values on their Bumble profile, Mazumdar added.
For newcomers, Bumble’s India Relationship Expert Ruchi Ruuh shares tips on how couples can embrace the festive spirit together:
-
Festive Market Treasure Hunts: Tired of solo shopping? Turn it into a fun challenge! Head to a local market, set a budget and see who can find the quirkiest decorations or sweets. It’s a playful way to bond and tackle that shopping list.
-
Creating Your Own Traditions: Festivals are all about bonding, so why not blend traditions or create new ones? Light diyas in quirky spots, or try your hand at fusion sweets. It’s about celebrating while crafting memories that are truly yours.
-
Date Night In: With over 56% of Indians preferring to stay home during Diwali, why not bring the celebration to your own space? Dress up, decorate, and cook together. End the night with a Bollywood classic and your favourite treats, making it a cosy, stress-free Diwali.
-
Home Photoshoot Fun: If staying in is your style, why not set up a mini photoshoot? Dress in your festive best, snap some pics, and maybe even turn them into Diwali postcards for family and friends.
