The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has introduced the ‘RuPay On-The-Go’ campaign to promote the RuPay National Common Mobility Card (NCMC). The objective of the card is to simplify transit payments. The campaign advertises the card’s utility as a convenient, fast and unified payment method for commuters.
RuPay NCMC is a payment solution for transit systems. It supports payments for metro rides, bus services, tolls, parking, and retail purchases. The card is open-loop and interoperable, allowing users to make payments across various services. It includes a stored value feature, allowing offline payments. This ensures that payments can be made even without internet connectivity.

The card is currently accepted in metro systems in cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Ahmedabad, and Kanpur. It is also used in bus services in Mumbai (B.E.S.T), Guwahati, Haryana, Jammu, Srinagar, Himachal, and Aurangabad.
Kunal Kalawatia, Chief of Products at NPCI, explained that the RuPay On-The-Go campaign improves transit payments, as the card is not only a payment tool but also supports users in managing their daily travel efficiently. He said, “By expanding this contactless payment option across metros and buses, we are committed to making the daily commute smoother for millions across the country.”
