Kasautii Zindagii Kay Stars Prerna and Komolika Reunite in YouTube India’s Latest Campaign

YouTube India’s latest ad revives the cast of the TV show Kasautii Zindagii Kay. Shweta Tiwari and Urvashi Dholakia return as Prerna and Komolika, but this time, they shift from their usual rivalry to a different interaction.

The ad begins with Komolika asking Prerna for styling tips. Komolika breaks the fourth wall, calling out catfights as a “patriarchal trope.” Prerna responds, “Everyone knows a brat and a demure can never be friends.” The scene ends with Komolika seeking saree advice, bringing humour to the interaction.

Created by Braindad, an ad agency led by Vishal Dayama, the campaign has gained attention online. Ektaa Kapoor, producer of Kasautii Zindagii Kay, reacted to the ad on social media, calling it “Too Good.”

The show, which aired from 2001 to 2008, is still remembered for its storyline and characters. Social media users have shared comments about the ad, with some calling it YouTube India’s best campaign and others praising the unexpected reunion.

YouTube India has also featured other characters. Crime Patrol’s Anup Soni appears in another ad, and Neena Gupta’s Ganji Chudail character gets a Gen-Z makeover as a fashion-forward figure. These ads combine familiar figures with new trends, encouraging audiences to try YouTube Shorts and highlighting the platform in India’s short-form video market.
