In case one is not able to figure out how to chill during that break, KitKat has come up with a real entertainment scheme by adding Netflix to their repertoire.
Netflix and KitKat have initiated a thrilling collaboration centered around the theme of “breaks,” featuring the charismatic Ayushmann Khurrana. This innovative partnership invites fans to scan a QR code on the new KitKat packaging, granting them access to an exclusive Netflix experience. By purchasing the 38.5g or 57g KitKat variants, participants can enter The Ultimate Break website to win unique KitKat x Netflix merchandise and design personalized posters of popular Netflix shows.
This campaign, valid only in India from June 1 to June 30, 2024, is spotlighted by an engaging ad film. In the ad, Ayushmann Khurrana, KitKat’s beloved brand ambassador, is portrayed on a movie set, feeling weary from the repetitive nature of his roles in hits like Dream Girl and Shubh Mangal Savdhaan. He yearns for a refreshing break, perfectly capturing the essence of the collaboration.
Suyash Barve, executive creative director at Manja, the agency behind the campaign, describes the ad as a seamless blend of the two brands. “It’s a 50:50 blend, not just a Netflix or a KitKat ad,” he explains, emphasizing the innovative nature of this partnership. Netflix, eager to build on successful past collaborations, approached Manja with the challenge of merging KitKat’s iconic association with “breaks” and Netflix’s reputation as the ultimate break destination.

The creation of the ad was a meticulous process, involving the selection of 70 to 80 scenes from Netflix shows and movies before scripting. This ensured a seamless integration of both brands’ worlds, offering consumers an unparalleled immersive experience. Ayushmann Khurrana, already a familiar face for KitKat, was the perfect choice to carry the story forward, acting as a visual bridge between KitKat and Netflix. This collaboration not only highlights the synergy between the two iconic brands but also redefines the concept of taking a break in a truly cinematic way.
